Opera – i’m finding out – is often a bit mad

As I’m researching ‘Dido and Aeneas’ – which I’m hoping will be my first, and not my last foray into opera – I’m discovering a world that’s a bit bonkers…but visually often ridiculously spectacular. As theatre makers there are rich pickings, especially design-wise – some fab costumes and amazing sets….not least Robert Lepage’s staging of Richard Wagner’s ‘Das Rheingold’….Click to view slideshow.
