On the Art of Theatre – Gordon Craig
Gordon Craig – Scenography International
Edited collective comment from Y12
Edward Gordon Craig deserves to be respected and paid homage to as he was key to the modernisation of theatre. His theories and practices have influenced many aspects of theatre, and his radical innovations now seem commonplace. Not only was he an architect, but he was also an artist, director, actor and dreamer. He was extremely talented and much of his work was very beautiful without being extravagant.
He was keen to demonstrate how he believed each aspect of theatre was of equal importance and his innovations in set and lighting design meant that a new theatre was born.
